Kongres Wanita Indonesia (KOWANI) XXV telah usai digelar. Dimulai dari Pembukaan oleh Bapak Presiden Joko Widodo di Istana Negara pada Hari Selasa, 3 Desember 2019, hingga penutupan pada tanggal 4 Desember 2019 lalu di Hotel JS Luwansa, Jakarta Selatan.
Kongres yang bertemakan “Peran Ibu Bangsa Menuju Indonesia Maju” itu dihadiri lebih dari 300 peserta yang teridiri dari 91 Ormas Anggota, Peninjau dan juga para Tamu Undangan.
Pada Kongres kali ini terpilih kembali ibu Giwo Rubianto Wiyogo, sebagai Ketua Umum Kowani untuk masa jabatan 2019-2024 mengalahkan ibu Ony Jafar Hafsah dengan selisih suara 441 dan 254 suara.
Persaudaraan Muslimah (Salimah) tidak luput pula hadir untuk memberikan kontribusi dalam Kongres kali ini. Dihadiri oleh Ketua Umum Salimah, Dra. Hj. Siti Faizah, Kongres Kowani ini diharapkan dapat semakin meningkatkan peran kemitraan bagi kiprah Salimah di tengah-tengah masyarkat khususnya dalam bidang pemberdayaan perempuan.
Saat pandangan umum, Siti Faizah menanggapi laporan pertanggungjawaban Ketua Umum Kowani 2014-2109, dengan menyampaikan masukan sebagai berikut : Pertama, Dalam semangat kebersamaan, Salimah menganggap perlunya mapping organisasi anggota yang saat ini berjumlah 95, sesuai fokus kerja masing-masing. Agar diantara organisasi anggota bisa saling belajar, mengisi dan melengkapi. Kedua, Untuk meningkatkan semangat organisasi anggota Kowani dalam berkiprah bagi peningkatan kualitas perempuan, anak dan keluarga, kiranya bisa diberikan penghargaan, semacam Kowani Award atas prestasi dan peran organisasi di masyarakat, tentu dengan standar yang sudah diatur oleh organisasi federasi seperti Kowani. Ketiga, merupakan sebuah keniscayaan bagi Kowani untuk melakukan update data organisasi anggota dengan memanfaatkan teknologi industri 4.0
Di samping pemilihan Ketua Umum Kowani, terpilih juga jajaran Pengurus Kowani untuk masa jabatan 2019-2024.
